Welcome to the 3rd Annual Run Montecito-Summerland!

Wecome to the 3rd Annual Run Montecito- Summerland!
Join us on Saturday, July 20th, 2013! Choose from a Half Marathon, 10k or 5k distance divisions.

Please join us for a run or walk through the meticulously maintained Montecito and the quaint seaside hamlet of Summerland—both representative of California’s collection of phenomenal coastal communities. Come for the event but stay for the locale. Summerland boasts several of the best burger joints anywhere: The Nugget, a rustic gourmet old-school tavern; Stacky’s, with a menu so big it’s like reading a well-crafted pulp novel; Tinker’s, a cozy slice of diner with awesome curly fries; and of course our base, Café Luna, with outdoor seating that feels like you’re kicking back in your backyard guest house.

We are proud to announce a Registration Fee Rate Plan which allows RMS entrants, in any one of the distance divisions, to choose from an All Inclusive Entry Fee Rate or Base Rate Fee, then add what items/costs they want added to their base rate fee: RMS Registration Fee Rate Plan. We encourage your feedback you have on how we make your registration experience even better; please send us a message from our Contact page.

RUN FOR A CAUSE: To expand our charitable reach into the Santa Barbara community we have added the Legacy Entrant option to the 2013 Run Montecito – Summerland.

A second round of applause to Darryll Whaley and his team at California Half Marathon Series for all their effort and team work creating and managing this awesome series, connecting events like RMS with the bevy of other California Half Marathons that allows entrants an inspiring opportunity to bridge their passion and commitment with so many extraordinary events. Yes, the 2013 Run Montecito – Summerland will again be a part of the California Half Marathon Series.

Saturday, October 5, 2013 — Camino Cielo Marathons
Introducing the world’s newest “Most Difficult Road Running Marathon.” Starting near the summit of Highway 154 and East Camino Cielo Road, the full marathon treks across the entire stretch of East Camino Cielo, U-turns at Romero Saddle and finishes at La Cumbre Peak—the highest peak to backdrop the American Riviera coastal community of Santa Barbara. If you looked at the map and considered thoughts of boredom if you were to run this hybrid out and back route, know that your glutes and quads will be amply fried to keep pace with the 6000’ of elevation gain, all while marveling at the 360 degree world class view. We picked late September-early October because historically this is when the Chumash would charge across the channel in their tree plank canoes, riding the warm weather and calm seas toward the “island of the dolphins.” For those daunted by the prospect of a full marathon, you can choose the Half Marathon or 15k sprint race.

Saturday, November 23, 2013 — Santa Ynez River Run 15k | 5k | One Mile
Each year the Santa Ynez River subsides to a mere trickle and the Santa Ynez River Road can be run dry from first crossing to Red Rock and back. This is an epic out and back run through one of a few locations in Santa Barbara County to witness a forest of Fall colors as the Poplars and Sycamore trees drop their leaves to prepare for the onset of winter.

Saturday, January 18, 2014 — Cold Spring Tavern 10k
You know the tavern: an authentic stagecoach era bar and restaurant that takes you back 130 years (and home to Sunday afternoon Tri-tip sandwiches that will make you cry). Now get to know the run to the tavern! Starting at the picturesque summit of West Camino Cielo Road, surrounded by Coldwater stone formations, this predominately gentle downhill run will offer runners some breathtaking views of southern and eastern Santa Barbara, the Channel Islands, Ventura and on the traditionally clear, crispy January days, the northern end of the Santa Monica Mountain Range and Malibu county.

February 16, 2014 — La Cumbre Peak Half Marathon
A Half Marathon run up the infamous Gibraltar Road to La Cumbre Peak on President’s Day weekend. Many have run this route from Santa Barbara’s Stearn’s Wharf to La Cumbre Peak in the summer and quietly wondered as the sun beat down on their heads whether it would be easier in the winter. Historically the weather is cool and clear, so now is your chance to answer the mystery. Look for our slightly revised route through the Mission Canyon area providing entrants with a pure “Point to Point” route

Sunday, May 25, 2014 — Figueroa Peak Heavy Half Marathon
This event promises epic views of the Santa Ynez Valley as you chase the wildflower bloom up Figueroa Mountain Road to the scenic Figueroa Peak Watch Tower, all on 13.2 miles of paved road with a 1.25-mile sprint on bladed smooth dirt forest road. The route is traditionally littered with lupines, California poppies and a plethora of other wildflowers to satisfy every runner’s inner poet.

Sunday, July 20, 2014 — Santa Ynez Valley Marathons — Full and Half Marathons
26.2 miles of fast and rolling road running in the heart of the American Riviera wine country, entrants will be treated to views of some of California’s most celebrated wineries and private horse ranches, all backed by the majestic Santa Ynez Mountain and Santa Lucia Mountain Ranges. July mornings in the valley are cool and moist from the inland marine layer, offering runners a cool start with warmer temps in the later morning.

Saturday, September 21, 2014 — 4th Run Montecito – Summerland
